24 Hour Emergency Response
Staff are on call to respond to environmental complaints and emergencies 24 hours a day.
Regional Planning
Consults with communities to prepare various regional plans to ensure that our resources are protected and enhanced for future generations.
Hazard Management
Plans ahead to manage hazards including oil spills and provides advice and information on floods, coastal erosion and earthquakes.
Environmental Reporting
Monitors and gathers information about the state of our environment to enable it to be managed for future generations.
Consents Processing
Processes resource consents for activities that discharge contaminants to the environment, use of water, affect the beds of lakes and rivers or are in the coastal marine area.
Environmental Compliance
Responds to pollution complaints and monitors resource consent holders to ensure consent conditions are met.
River Management and Drainage
Prepares and implements programmes for construction and maintenance of works to enhance river stability, efficiency and to prevent drainage problems.
Land Sustainability
Promotes best land use practices that will have the lest effect on the environment while still maintaining productivity.
Pest Animal Management
Manages pest animals classified in the regional pest management strategy and carries out Bovine Tb vector control programmes to prevent economic and environmental damage to our region.
Pest Plant Management
Prevents the spread of invasive and exotic pest plants by education and enforcement of the regional pest management strategy
Corporate Services
Provides services to general management, personnel, treasury, rating and computer information to Council. |
