Otama School

Otama School caters for children from new entrants to Year 8 - a full primary school. The Otama community and Board of Trustees are very supportive of their school and the Enviroschools programme.  Currently the schools role stands at approximately 27 children – all of which are involved in the Enviroschools programme.

2009 is Otama schools 4th year involved in the Enviroschools programme.  The exciting news at Otama is that they were awarded a Silver Award in 2008 – fantastic work.  Otama has worked very hard to integrate the Enviroschools programme into every aspect of the school including the curriculum – great work!

2007 was very action packed for Otama with lots of exciting projects happening in the school grounds so in 2008 the school concentrated on environmental issues within in the class room.  The focus for the year was water so the students spent the year discovering all the facts about Antarctica, global warming and the rocky shore.  While learning this in the class room the students also monitored the water ways in their own backyard

There are many other projects and Enviroschools activities happening at Otama school, so if you would like more information, please contact the school on 03 208 9454 or email Otama.school@xtra.co.nz. The school is more than happy to share their Enviroschools Journey with others!
