Accessing our Environmental Data portal

​Quick access from mobile devices

Feel like there are just too many clicks to see our monitoring data on your mobile phone or tablet? There’s a quick way to access it from your smartphone or tablet, by creating a shortcut on your home screen. Here’s how you do it.

Android

Chrome web browser

  1. Launch the Chrome web browser for Android and navigate to www.es.govt.nz.
  2. Select ‘Maps and data’ from the green dropdown menu, and select the data you want to see.
  3. Tap your device’s menu button and then ‘Add to homescreen’.
  4. Enter a name for the shortcut and tap ‘Add’.

You can download the Chrome browser from the Google Play Store.

Firefox web browser

  1. Launch the Firefox web browser for Android and navigate to www.es.govt.nz.
  2. Select ‘Maps and data’ from the green dropdown menu, and select the data you want to see.
  3. Tap your device’s menu button and select 'Page option', then 'Add to home screen'.
  4. Enter a name for the shortcut and tap ‘Add’.

You can download the Firefox browser from the Google Play Store.

iPhone/iPad

On iPhones and iPads, only the Safari browser can be used to make shortcuts.
  1. Launch Safari and navigate to www.es.govt.nz.
  2. Select ‘Maps and data’ from the green dropdown menu, and select the data you want to see.
  3. Tap the Share button on the browser’s toolbar (the rectangle with an arrow pointing upward).
  4. Tap the ‘Add to Home Screen’ icon, give it a name and tap ‘Add'.

Windows 8, 8.1, RT

You can add a website as a tile on your Start screen.
  1. Start Internet Explorer and navigate to www.es.govt.nz.
  2. Select ‘Maps and data’ from the green dropdown menu, and select the data you want to see.
  3. Pull up the app bar by right-clicking or swiping up from the bottom of your screen, and tap the star icon.
  4. Tap the pin icon, enter a name for the shortcut, and click ‘Pin to Start’.

Windows Phone

  1. Start Internet Explorer and navigate to www.es.govt.nz.
  2. Select ‘Maps and data’ from the green dropdown menu, and select the data you want to see.
  3. Tap the More () button and then 'Pin to Start'.
  4. The website shortcut will appear as a tile on your Start screen.

TIP: Want even quicker access to river level stats? You can now go straight to the table view. Tap ‘Maps and data’ on the green dropdown menu on www.es.govt.nz and select ‘Water levels (table)’
