Environment Southland has received an application for resource consent from D E & V J Stafford, Gore. Application APP-20171375 refers to applications for a discharge permit to discharge dairy shed effluent to
land from up to 500 cows on an existing dairy farm, and a water permit to take up to 60,000 litres of
groundwater per day and up to 18,240 cubic metres per year from two bores in the Lower Mataura Groundwater Zone.


Discharge Permit -  To discharge dairy shed effluent to land from up to 500 cows by low rate irrigation and umbilical irrigation on an existing dairy farm. The proposal is a non-complying activity under Rule 35(d) of the proposed Southland Water and Land Plan.

Water Permit - To take up to 60,000 litres of groundwater per day and up to 18,240 cubic metres per year from two bores in the Lower Mataura Groundwater Zone. The proposal is a discretionary activity under Rule 23(d)(ii) of the Regional Water Plan for Southland.

(a) adversely affects the environment; and (b) does not relate to trade competition or the effects of trade competition.
