Water 2010
Southland Water 2010 builds and expands upon Environment Southland’s first SOE Report for Water published in October 2000.
Our Health was the first of four reports launched in August 2010 from Environment Southland and Te Ao Marama Incorporated which together make up Southland Water 2010: Report on the State of Southland’s Freshwater Environment.
Our Ecosystems reports on the current state of our freshwater ecosystems and also the changes that have occurred over time. It attempts to answer the question: How healthy is the life in our water and our freshwater ecosystems?
In ‘Our Threats’ we report on the aspects of the freshwater environment that could harm us and the things we value. This report asks how safe we are from floods, droughts and other extreme climatic events.
The last part, Our Uses, looks at our needs and uses of the freshwater environment and asks whether there is enough water for our needs.
Once published, the reports and supporting data will be available in hardcopy from Environment Southland or you can download them here. If you would like a hardcopy of the report, please contact Environment Southland on 0800 76 88 45 or email service@es.govt.nz.
