Monitoring

This application is an initiative by Environment Southland allowing you to discover more about groundwater levels in Southland. You can browse the Groundwater Monitoring Zones to discover more about their make-up, and also read an information sheet on each.

Once you have opened the application, you can:

  • View the bores which Environment Southland monitors on the map, and a graph of their water level from the Sites tab.
  • You will also be able to see the aquifers underlying the theoretical groundwater zones from the Aquifers tab.
  • You can see the theoretical groundwater zones we have broken Southland in to for management of groundwater. These are on the Zones tab. Each zone also has a factsheet for you to view.
  • If you get stuck, or want to know what the application can do, have a look on the Help tab.

Frequency of Monitoring

Upon viewing the detail of a site, you will be able to see the regularity of monitoring. Depending on the site, new recordings are taken anywhere from every 15 minutes, to every two months. So be sure to check back regularly!
