Funding
Who is eligible for financial assistance and how much will Living Streams pay?
Eligibility
- Properties on which proposed works are to be done should fall within the boundaries of Living Streams catchments. [Insert link to maps of Living Streams catchments on PAGE 1]
- All categories of landowners/occupiers within Living Streams projects are eligible for grant assistance.
- Proposed works will contribute towards achieving Living Streams water quality outcomes.
Rates of assistance
Rates of assistance need to be flexible and reflect the projected benefits resulting from the planned works. For example, rates might vary from 25% for fencing grassed waterways and small on-farm wetlands, to 50% for riparian fencing and planting of significant wetlands and major streams. Larger expensive projects such as constructed wetlands that treat water from a number of properties and have benefits to the community and a significant improvement in water quality might attract assistance of 100%.
- Riparian fencing: up to 50% (including fencing of filter strips, plantings and wetlands)
- Planting of native or exotic trees primarily for stream shade: up to 50%
- Provision of alternative stock water systems: up to 50% (to provide stock water in riverside paddocks that previously relied on natural water prior to riparian fencing)
- Improvements to stock crossings: 50% up to $1000 (including culverts and bridge upgrades)
- Rehabilitation of eroded stream banks: 50% up to $1000
- Construction of wetlands for managing contaminants from tile outlets: 25% to 100% depending on size of wetlands and expected benefits
- Technical assistance from external experts: 50% up to $500 (e.g. specialist assessment of functioning of septic systems).
