Brucie's Buddies

On this page, each of Brucie's animal buddies introduces themselves and describes a little bit about what they do for our environment.

Sam

Sam

Hi I'm Sam the Ram. I like to "save our soil". Because I'm a sheep I am on the land a lot, so I make sure people are looking after the soil. Also, If there are streams around the land, I try and encourage people to fence these off from animals (like me) and plant trees alongside the stream.
Della

Della

Hi, I'm Della Tidium and great bugs mean great water!!! I love great water! Bugs like me need it and people like you need it. Like Ellie, I like to encourage people to look after our waterways. Without healthy water, we have no healthy life. We can learn about all the 'good' bugs that live in our water and then work out if the water is 'good'.
Tessa

Tessa

Hi, I'm Tessa the Tui. I like to "treasure our trees". I'm a native bird whose family has lived here for a long long long time. We rely on the native trees to provide us with yummy nectar to eat. So I like to encourage people to protect their native trees and even plant some more to encourage more bird life in the region.
Tiaki

Tiaki

Kia ora, I'm Tiaki the Tuatara. I care deeply about our southern environment - Tiakitia te Taiao kit e Tonga! I have been here for years and years and years, forever! I have great knowledge about our environment and how we can work together to make it a better place for us to live.
Albert T Ross

Albert T Ross

Hi I'm Albert T Ross, the albatross! I like to "care for our coast". Southland has over 3,000 kilometres of coastline!!! And I encourage all of Brucies Buddies to look after it. Its really important to not have rubbish in the coastal area and to make sure our beaches are healthy for you to swim in.

Ella

Ellie

Hi, I'm Ellie the Eel. I like people to respect our rivers! Rivers are really important for our planet and they need to be clean and healthy. Not only for things like eel's, fish and little bugs, but for us too; for our water supplies, and to play in. And rivers flow out to sea, so we want the water going into the sea to be healthy as well.
