Summary of Community Feedback - Document Now Available
A review of the Regional Policy Statement for Southland is underway in conjunction with the Southland District
Councils review of the Southland District Plan. Both Councils have decided to work together in the initial
consultation stages of the reviews of these two planning documents.
This initial consultation stage has now concluded with the release of a 'Summary of Community Feedback' document.
This document summarises all the feedback and comment received from the wider community and key stakeholders on
the 13 Issues and Options papers which were released to the public by the Councils at the start of June 2009. A
combined Environment Southland and Southland District Councillor Workshop was held on the 25 of September 2009.
The outcome of this workshop was that Councillors endorsed the release of the 'Summary of Community Feedback'
document.
Links to the summary document which also includes Council commentary are located below. Also available are the
full Issues and Options papers, summaries and report cards produced at the start of the initial consultation
stage.
Both Councils will now start drafting policy on each of the respective planning documents. During the preparation
of the planning documents, there will be further consultation by the Councils with key stakeholders and the wider
