Policies
This revised policy, which now includes earthquake prone and flood prone dams, once consulted on, must be adopted by Council by September 2011.
All Councils are required to produce a Local Governance Statement. It is a collection of information about Environment Southland and the processes through which we engage our community.
The Regional Policy Statement provides an overview of what the community expects Environment Southland to deliver, while providing the framework for how Environment Southland will manage the natural and physical resources of Southland.
Environment Southland is proposing to retain the existing representation arrangements, comprising 12 Council members and six constituencies, with the names and boundaries of these constituencies to remain the same for the 2013 elections.
The Significance Policy is required by the Local Government Act 2002. The general approach taken by Environment Southland is to propose significant decisions in the context of the Long-term Plan.
