Invercargill City Council

Invercargill City Council has applied for resource consents to discharge stormwater from the Invercargill City reticulated stormwater networks into water.

The application is for discharges to the Clifton Channel, Kingswell Creek, Otepuni Stream, Waihopai River and Waikiwi Stream, upstream of the coastal marine area boundaries. A single resource consent is proposed for the discharges to each catchment.

It should be noted that this application is for stormwater discharges to fresh water, not coastal water. The consents are required as a result of the new rules in the Regional Water Plan, which is now operative.

The application was publicly notified on 13 November 2009 and two submissions were received.

The hearing is scheduled to commence at 09:00a.m. 08 September 2011 in the Council Chambers, Environment Southland, corner of Price Street and North Road, Waikiwi, Invercargill.
