Fiona is the regional co-ordinator for Enviroschools and the leader
for the environmental education programme. She comes to the role after
many years working with adults on environmental awareness and change, and is
enthusiastic to see what opportunities are within the “young” community of
Southland. Time away from the office is spent with family, on-farm and in

Mark joined Environment Southland in 2012 after having worked for the Department of Conservation as community relations and education ranger. He has an education degree and a background in pest management, outdoor education, agricultural training, conservation and youth work. With such a diverse and practical background he enjoys inspiring students to connect with nature, learn from it, and develop creative actions that will enhance its wellbeing as well as their own.
Environmental education officer and Enviroschools facilitator
Pat joined the Environment Southland team in 2009 after emigrating from South Africa where she had worked as an environmental educator in a game reserve (for 8½ years) and as a teacher in a school (for 1 year). Pat is a qualified teacher and entomologist. Her strengths/responsibilities include: freshwater science, coastal education, ecology, invertebrates and the science fair. Pat lives on a lifestyle block on the outskirts of Invercargill. Her hobbies include beekeeping, gardening, barbershop singing and finding homes for retired racing dogs.
