The Privacy Act 1993 applies to Environment Southland and sets out principles that govern the collection, holding, use and disclosure of personal information. Environment Southland is required to hold information about ratepayers that could be defined as personal information (i.e name and address). Any dealing with personal information held by Environment Southland is in compliance with the Privacy Act and any other applicable laws.
The Privacy Act allows you to request access to personal information held about yourself, and request a correction if needed. Any request can be made orally or in writing to our office.
