Environment
The Environment Awards are organised and held every year by Environment Southland to acknowledge the huge amount of good work being done - often behind the scenes and voluntarily – to safeguard and enhance Southland's environment. The awards are given in a number of categories and attract quite a few nominations every year.
2011
Southland's environmental champions were honoured at the sixteenth Southland Environment Awards on 6 July. A record audience of 320 people turned out to celebrate the achievements of a diverse range of nominees from all over the region.

Southland's environmental achievers were honoured at the region's 15th community environment awards on 21 July 2010. This year attracted 25 nominations across the nine categories.
