Public notice is hereby given pursuant to S.95A Resource Management Act 1991 that the following application for resource consent have been received by Environment Southland.

A B Miller - Resource Consent Application M196-001

The application is for:

  • a water permit to take up 71,880 litres per day of groundwater from the Makarewa Groundwater Zone.  The abstraction is Discretionary Activity under Rule 23(d)(ii) of the Regional Water Plan for Southland
  • a discharge permit to discharge farm dairy effluent to land from a dairy shed servicing up to 599 cows.  The effluent will be spread using a both a high rate travelling irrigator and a low-rate pod irrigation system. The discharge may be deferred in adverse conditions by temporary storage in an effluent pond.  The discharge is a Controlled activity under Rule 5.4.5 of the Regional Effluent Land Application Plan.
  • a land use consent to construct a 2,380 m3 effluent storage pond.  The land use consent is a Restricted Discretionary Activity under Rule 49(a) of the Regional Water Plan for Southland

Location:  1255 Brydone Glencoe Road, Hedgehope, at about map reference NZMS 260 F46: 755-339.

Submissions on the above applications must be received by Environment Southland no later than the end of working hours on Thursday 23 February 2012.  A submission form is available from Environment Southland. Submissions may also be forwarded by email to service@es.govt.nz

Submissions must be dated and signed (unless forwarded electronically) and must include the following information:

  1. your name, postal address and telephone number (and fax number if applicable);
  2. details of the application in respect of which you are making the submission;
  3. whether it is in support of, or in opposition to the application, or is neutral;
  4. your submissions, with reasons;
  5. the decision that you wish Council to make; and
  6. whether you wish to be heard in support of your submission

and you must serve a copy of your submission on the applicant as soon as reasonably practicable.
