Temporary Speed Uplifting

Nodding thistle control in the Aparima, Oreti and Mataura Rivers

A jet boat, registered number E429E, operating under the direction of Environment Southland, will be used to access areas of nodding thistle in the Aparima, Oreti and Mataura, over approximately 5 days during February 2012, and will travel, at times, at speeds greater than 5 knots.

Operating areas:

AparimaRiver- above the Wreys Bush bridge (Winton-Wreys Bush Highway) to the confluence with the Hamilton Burn;

OretiRiver- from the Dipton bridge (Dipton-Castlerock Road) to the Mossburn bridge (Mossburn-Five Rivers Road);

MatauraRiver- from Croydon (Wrights Road) to the confluence of the Waikaia River.

Other river users are requested to keep a good look out for this boat on these rivers in February.
