Financial advisor appointed
Environment Southland has appointed independent investment and advisory group, Jarden, as financial advisors authorised to engage on the possible partial sell-down of Environment Southland’s South Port shares.
In 2024, the Council formally consulted with the community during the 2024-34 Long-term Plan process on a partial sell-down of South Port shares from 66% to 51% to diversify income and reduce investment risk, while still maintaining a majority stake in the Port.
Any final decision to sell down shares will be guided by prevailing market conditions, our professional advisors, and ultimately, the ability to achieve an appropriate financial outcome on behalf of ratepayers. If the Council does not believe that it will be able to achieve the necessary value from a sale, the current shareholding will be maintained.
