Terms and Conditions
Environment Southland specifies these terms, any entry information, and/or additional terms and conditions. These terms are a contract between each entrant (you) and Environment Southland.
Term: The competition opens on 25 June 2025 and closes on 20 August 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.
Prizes: The prizes for the competition are not transferable to another person, school, or business. The named entrant must accept the full prize money, which cannot be split or gifted.
Who can enter: To enter the competition, you must have attended the Enviroschools waste workshop held on 25 June in Invercargill or 26 June in Gore. Names will be verified against workshop registration details, and you may only enter the competition once.
Environment Southland, Invercargill City Council, Southland District Council, Gore District Council, contractors, WasteNnet employees, and corporate entities are not eligible to enter the competition, and any entries will be disqualified.
Entries: All entries received, and any materials submitted with the entry will become the property of Environment Southland. By entering the competition you consent to Environment Southland copying, reproducing, altering, communicating to the public and otherwise using your entry, whether known now or developed in the future, in relation to the competition, or to advertise and promote Enviroschools (including by publishing your entry and or the materials, or parts of them, on Environment Southland and Enviroschools websites and social media pages. In addition, by entering the competition, you agree that Environment Southland may use your name and photograph for promotional purposes without compensation.
Liability: Environment Southland is not liable for late entries, whether caused by technical malfunction, misdirection, incorrectly completed entries, loss of data, or other means during the competition's administration.
It is the responsibility of the teacher or school to ensure that all students and participants featured in the video have given appropriate permission to be filmed, and that consent has been obtained for the content to be shared and used as outlined above.
Winners: A panel of judges from Environment Southland and WasteNet will choose the prize winners. Entrants are not eligible to win more than one prize. All decisions are made at the judges' sole discretion. The judging period will take place within 14 days of the competition closing. Winners will be contacted by email before Friday, 5 September.
We will take reasonable steps to contact the winners by using the contact details provided at the time of entry. If we cannot contact a winner within one week after the winner is announced or if the winner is otherwise unable to accept the prize, then the winner will forfeit the prize, and we may select a new winner.
Privacy: Environment Southland may collect and use personal information about you (including your name, contact details, and any other personal information you provide in connection with your entry) to administer the competition, verify the validity of entries, contact winners and check winners' identities. As specific information is required for us to run the contest effectively, you may be disqualified from the competition if you do not provide accurate information. Environment Southland will collect, use and hold your information in accordance with our legal obligations.
