Where does the 2026-27 income come from?
Rates are an annual charge, collected from properties in the Southland region in October/November to contribute towards this work. Rates make up 55% of our income, with fees & charges, capital grants, dividends, investments, rental income and levies & contributions contributing the remaining 45% of our income.

How to pay your rates

Search property rates
Search for your rates by street address or valuation number, which you'll find at the top of your Environment Southland rates notice.
