Fees help cover the cost of the services we provide, particularly where those services directly benefit individuals, businesses or consent holders.
Environment Southland takes a user-pays approach where appropriate, which means the actual and fair costs of using council resources or services are generally met by those who use them or benefit from them.
This page includes information about how we set our fees, annual consent charges invoices, and how payments can be made.
How charges are set
We review our fees and charges regularly to make sure they remain fair, transparent and equitable, while supporting responsible use of Southland’s natural resources.
Annual consent charges
All consent holders are required to pay an annual charge that covers the costs of administration and monitoring of their consents.

Refunds - consent application deposit fee
Regardless of fixed fees that are paid on lodgment of an application, we only charge actual costs as required by the Act. Refunds are given, or additional fees are charged, whichever is appropriate.
Payment options
If you receive an invoice under our Fees and Charges Schedule, there are several convenient options available to pay.

Please enter your Acc No. from the top right corner of your invoice in the reference field only. No other information is required, however if your bank requires additional fields to be completed, please enter the invoice number you are making the payment on. |
