Rates

We collect rates from properties in the Southland region once a year in October/November.

Rates are a yearly charge against a property, made up of different types of rates for the various services we provide.

We've introduced a new way for you to manage and pay your rates that gives you the option to pay your rates in a single lump sum on the due date or create a flexible payment schedule that fits your budget.

If you set up an instalment plan before 28 November 2025, your payment schedule will ensure your rates are paid in full by 30 June 2026 so you won’t be charged any penalty interest so long as you maintain the arrangement.
