Lyndon Cleaver
Maritime Manager/ Regional Harbourmaster
Lyndon joined the Environment Southland team in 2011. He commenced his maritime career with the Royal New Zealand Navy, and after serving there for twenty years, he moved on to the New Zealand Customs Service, Maritime Section for six years. Lyndon has a keen interest in the maritime sector, in particular boating education, where he often visits Primary and Intermediate schools teaching boating safety to students.
Zak Smith
Deputy Harbourmaster
Zak Smith is the Deputy Harbourmaster for the entire Southland Region. Starting as a commercial skipper, Zak brings more than 25 years of international knowledge from both the tourism industry and competitive ocean sailing. His experiences both locally and abroad gives him a unique perspective and deep appreciation of diversity in all its forms. His passion for the sea and helping people puts him in the ideal position to assist the hapori (society/community) he serves.
Jim Lines
Navigation Safety Officer
Starting his maritime career in the Royal New Zealand Navy, Jim moved onto the commercial diving industry spending time based in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Once returning to Southland Jim decided to go into business for himself. This gave him the opportunity to pursue his passion for hunting and spending time on the water fishing and diving. Jim has a strong commitment to boating safety and with his broad range of experience on and in the water he is able to sheer this local knowledge with the public.
