Caregiver’s dedication earns winter warmth

The nomination from Graeme was a complete surprise to Michelle, who didn’t hear a peep of it until her husband received a phone call to announce their win. He looked across at her from the kitchen table with a big smile and finally admitted what he’d done.
“It’s quite sweet really, that he appreciates the things I do.”
The firewood giveaway, supported by Environment Southland Good Wood suppliers Waikiwi Wood and Coal, and Hippo’s Heaps, has brought warmth to the Jefferis home and recognition to a couple who has quietly lit up the lives of those around them.
As Michelle puts it, it’s very important to have good wood.
“If you haven’t got decent wood, it really doesn’t burn well, and you don’t have good heat.”
